Welcome to my accessibility journey!

Christmas in Merrickville has been a thing in my village since I can remember. One of my favourite parts used to be the wagon ride. A horse-drawn wagon would take you on a snowy tour of the town to see all of the lights and decorations. It was magical. Unfortunately, I haven’t been on one since I’ve been in a chair, because you need to climb steps to get in. This changes this year! The Lions Club’s Accessibility Committee is working with Regional Ramps to provide us with a ramp for loading the wagon. Those with mobility challenges as well as everyone else will all load on the ramp for an inclusive experience.  This will hopefully be the first of many accessible wagon rides in Merrickville.

I’m Sarah!

Welcome to Rolling with Sarah! I am a 26-year-old wheelchair user from Merrickville, Ontario. Throughout my life, I have encountered both amazing accessibility and impossible to believe barriers On this site, I will document my journey as a person with a disability. My highs, my lows, and everything in between. I will recognize accessibility efforts by others, as well as what I am doing to improve accessibility myself. Roll along with me!
