Welcome to my accessibility journey!

Merrickville Dentistry never cease to impress me! Check out the sign they had posted at their door at the top of the ramp. It says “Please ring bell for assistance with accessibility. We have a ramp to place on the threshold.” And then they showed me the threshold ramp they had had custom made. Way to go! It is little things like this that can make a world of difference for a wheelchair user. Few people realize what a barrier a threshold bump can be. Another seemingly small addition was the shoe horn that they had available to help people with their shoes and boots. Many don’t realize how difficult the act of putting these on can be for some people. It isn’t always easy to bend down that far.  This little tool can have a big impact. So happy to see positive change in the village.

I’m Sarah!

Welcome to Rolling with Sarah! I am a 26-year-old wheelchair user from Merrickville, Ontario. Throughout my life, I have encountered both amazing accessibility and impossible to believe barriers On this site, I will document my journey as a person with a disability. My highs, my lows, and everything in between. I will recognize accessibility efforts by others, as well as what I am doing to improve accessibility myself. Roll along with me!
